Strapping Fieldhands uit Philadelphia stond begin jaren negentig mee aan de wieg van de indielofi. Samen met bands als Sebadoh, Guided By Voices en The Grifters luidde de groep rond Bob Malloy een nieuwe era van complexloze rockmuziek in. Daarbij klinken ze soms als een frontporchpopgroep en dan weer als een update van The Holy Modal Rounders of The Fugs. In 2003 legde de groep het bijltje erbij neer, maar recent speelden ze weer een aantal concerten in hun home town. De Fieldhands speelden nog nooit buiten Amerika, dus dit is een Europese primeur!

Together with bands as Sebadoh, Guided By Voices and The Grifters, the band around Bob Malloy set the tone for a new era of uncompromising rock music. Sometimes they sound like the perfect front porch pop band, but then again they rock like an updated version of The Holy Modal Rounders or The Fugs. In 2003 the band split up, but recently they regrouped for some shows in their hometown. The Fieldhands never played outside the Americas, so this is their European debut!
