AF URSIN [b] Timo Van Luijk, former member of Noise Maker's Fifes defines himself as a musical Buddhist. With cheap or recycled instruments he creates minimal and quiet soundscapes that work introspectively. Met goedkope of gerecycleerde instrumenten creëert hij minimale en stille soundscapes die introspectief werken.
	BORIS [jp] Boris is an almost-cult trio from Japan; they craft sludge/doom rock for more than 10 year already. Echoes of Melvins and Earth but far more experimental; they collaborated with Keiji Haino and Merzbow. Hard 'n heavy the Japanese way, without compromises. They release a new album on Conspiracy records from Antwerp and this is the first time ever they play in Belgium! Track		Boris is een bijna-cult trio dat ruim 10 jaar in de weer is met sludge/doom rock. Echo's van Melvins en Earth overgoten met een experimenteel sausje, die reeds resulteerden in een samenwerking met iconen zoals Keiji Haino en Merzbow. 	CAROLINER RAINBOW DECADE OF ADMIRING FAILURE [usa] Imagine a loudmouthed fluorescent painting that comes alive, or an 18th century drag race featuring modern wandering singers with costumes, and you're pretty close. They shared the stage with Wolf Eyes and Hair Poice on several occasions. From Frisco. Of course! Track		Denk aan een luidruchtig fluorescerend schilderij dat tot leven komt, oftewel een achttiende-eeuws geheelspektakel van moderne barden met kostuums, en je komt uit bij Caroliner. Ze deelden meermaals het podium met Wolf Eyes en Hair Police. Uit Frisco. Uiteraard!
	DIRK FREENOISE [b] "The sound of that tennis racket was awesome!!" Dirk Freenoise, from Antwerp, combines "prul noise" (or, in English, crap noise) in an intelligent way with junk noise. They get the honor to open the festival festively. The question remains: will the other performances be able to proceed after them?		"Het geluid dat uit die tennisracket kwam was te zot!!" Het Antwerpse Dirk Freenoise combineert prulnoise op intelligente wijze met junknoise. De band krijgt de eer om het festival feestelijk te openen. Rest voornamelijk de vraag: zullen er nog optredens mogelijk zijn na hen?
	KISS THE ANUS OF A BLACK CAT [b] A guitar, an organ, bells and a voice with echoes of David Tibet from Current 93 is all this Limburgian resident needs to surprise the world with dark folksongs.		Een gitaar, een orgel, belletjes en een stem die David Tibet van Current 93 in herinnering brengt, meer heeft deze Limburger niet nodig om donkere, theatraal getinte, folksongs de wereld in te sturen.
	MAGIC MARKERS [usa] Two grrrls and a guy, two guitars and a drum kit and a grimy pile of primitive no-wave make your ears suffer. After numerous tapes and cd-r's they found a home on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace-label; he also towed them as support for Sonic Youth's 2004 summer tour. Magic, Magik or Magick a 'Markers'-concert is without any doubt magical!!! Track (live)		Met twee gitaren en een drumstel brouwen twee meiden en een drummer met ballen een bruisend potje primitief groovende No Wave die je de oren van de kop blaast. Na talloze tapes en cd-r's vonden ze onderdak op het Ecstatic Peace label van Thurston Moore die hen afgelopen zomer op sleeptouw nam als support van Sonic Youth. Magic, Magik of Magick een 'Markers'-concert is magisch laat daar geen twijfel over bestaan.
	THE MICROPHONES [usa] The Microphones is the project of Phil Evrum (also D+ and Old Time Relijun). He builds layered miniature symphonies with organs, vocals, drums, white noise and tape loops. The perfect background music for landowners of dark forests on windy hill summits. Track		The Microphones is het project van Phil Evrum (zie ook D+ en Old Time Relijun). Met behulp van orgels, vocalen, drums, ruis en tapeloops, bouwt hij laagje per laagje prachtige miniatuursymfonieën op die de luisteraar meenemen naar donkere bossen en winderige heuveltoppen.
	NMPERIGN [usa] Nmperign are Greg Kelley and Bhob Rainey who choose, as classical educated musicians, to combine hardcore improvisation and experimental aesthetic. They get their inspiration from a very broad spectrum of musicians like George Crumb, Xenakis, The Shadow Ring or Thomas Brinkmann. The Band create a hedgerow of unorthodox non-jazz improvisation with a trumpet and a saxophone. Don't expect a blare of trumpets and sheep but prepare yourself for a unique, minimal sound. Track		Nmperign is het duo Greg Kelley en Bhob Rainey die, als klassiek geschoolde musici, ervoor kozen om hardcore improvisatie te combineren met een experimentele esthetiek. Ze halen hun inspiratie uit een breed spectrum van muzikanten als George Crumb, Xenakis, The Shadow Ring of Thomas Brinkmann. Met behulp van trompet en sopraansax brengen ze een staaltje onorthodoxe non-jazz impro. Verwacht geen trompetgeschal maar eerder een unieke, minimale sound.
	THE SKYGREEN LEOPARDS SKYBAND [usa] Just "Skygreen Leopards" was insufficient for creative bees Glenn Donaldson (founder of Jewelled Antler and member of Thuja and Blithe Sons) and Donavan Quin, the small psych folk hero. Female drummer Christine Boepple was summoned to look for an extra Skyband impact, and what an impact it has. Perfectly combined talents create atmospheric neo-60's folk pop full of drifting melodies and sing-along refrains. Gloriously, windy, blissful, breezy, sunny. Track		Gewoon Skygreen Leopards was onvoldoende voor creatieve bijen Glenn Donaldson (oprichter van Jewelled Antler en groepslid van Thuja en Blithe Sons) en Donavan Quin (psych folk held). Drumster Christine Boepple werd gebeld voor een extra Skyband effect. Samen combineren ze hun talenten perfect en maken ze atmosferische neo-60's folkpop vol melodieën en herkenbare refreinen. Zalig, winderig en zonnig.
	SMEGMA [usa] You have almost-cult bands and cult bands. Smegma is Cult with a capital C and for the first time in Europe. Smegma started in California in the mid seventies as a reaction to the bad fusion rock from their region. Like it should be for a cult band Smegma stayed low-profile and kept doing things in their own pace. Even a 7 inch single on Mute didn't change anything to that. The band plays their very own mix of improvisation, folk and noise. Free Music in its most broad meaning and with every new concert as an utterly new sonic event. Buzzing homemade synths, grinding electric guitars, tapes and mainly lots of weird gear all over. Video		Je hebt bijna-cult bands en cult bands. Smegma is Cult mét hoofdletter en voor het eerst in Europa. Smegma ontstond midden jaren '70 in California, als een reactie op de -doorgaans bedenkelijke- Fusion groepen uit hun streek. Zoals het hoort voor een cult band bleef Smegma al die tijd low-profile en bleven ze spelen op eigen tempo. Ook een single op Mute veranderde daar niks aan. De groep fabriceert een eigenzinnige mix van improvisatie, folk en noise. Dit is "Free Music" in de ruimste betekenis van het woord, waarbij elk optreden een nieuwe sonisch evenement vormt. Zoemende zelfgemaakte synths, gitaar, tape en vooral veel weirde instrumenten.
	SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE [usa] The Songs of Ben Chasny, aka Six Organs of Admittance, feel like an eastern version of John Fahey, but with additional sweet vocals. Chasny tours with Devendra Banhart and Ghost and has a subcareer in Comets of Fire. Although his project already began in 1998, the big success of Six Organs started in 2004. You will definitely hear why. Video		De songs van Ben Chasny, aka Six Organs of Admittance, voelen aan als een oosterse versie van Leo Kottke met zoetgevooisde vocalen erover. Chasny heeft ondermeer Tom Carter van Charalambides in zijn nabijheid, tourt met Ghost en Devendra Banhart en houdt er een subcarrière bij Comets On Fire op na. Hoewel het project al bestaat sinds 1998, was Six Organs voor velen dé ontdekking van 2004. U zult ongetwijfeld horen waarom.
	TRÄD GRÄS OCH STENAR [sw] Trance rock combo "Trees, grass and stones" is a communal drone-progrock assemblage that had a key role in the Swedish underground at the end of the Sixties. Pärson Sound and International Harvester preceded but luckily Träd Gräs Och Stenar goes fully minimal-psych. The band continues with what is best described as a kickboxing match between Hawkwind, Tony Conrad and a Swedish Will Tura (but don't worry if you have never heard about Will Tura). Track (1971)		"Bomen, Gras en Stenen" is een drone-progrock commune met een sleutelrol in de Zweedse underground van eind jaren zestig. Pärson Sound en International Harvester was wat vooraf ging. Träd Gräs Och Stenar gaat voluit voor trancy minimal-psych en zet het potje kickboksen tussen Hawkwind, Tony Conrad en de Zweedse Will Tura resoluut verder.
	TV RESISTORI [fin] A new, young band from Finland, and NO it's not the newest weird folk collective so you can put your preconceptions back where they came from. TV Resistori is a new young electronica 5-piece that sounds as a very playful and low key Stereolab. Track		Een nieuwe, jonge groep uit Finland. Maar gooi meteen uw hoorbaar aanstormend vooroordeel overboord: TV Resistori is niet het zoveelste weird folkcollectief, maar een jonge 5-koppige elektronicagroep die klinkt als een zeer speelse en low key Stereolab.
	URDOG [usa] Urdog is a trio from Rhodes Island; they failed to become a King Crimson tribute band and desperately started searching for another sounds. The result is an LSD trip in a weird universe where Pink Floyd's "Ummagumma" crystallizes with Acid Mothers Temple and andere psych-heads. Track		Urdog is een trio uit Rhodes Island dat er niet in slaagde om een King Crimson tributeband te worden en daarom maar een eigen weg zocht. Het resultaat is een LSD-trip ergens in een vreemd universum waar Pink Floyds "Ummagumma" kristalliseert met Acid Mothers Temple en andere psych-heads.
