NICK CASTRO [us] FERN KNIGHT [us] GÖÖR [be]
NICK CASTRO gathered three albums on his credit so far and proved to be one of the key players of the contemporary psych folk. This young acid minstrel moves between sweet singer-songwriting and folkrock and invites a nice musical harem like Meg Baird (Espers) and Josephine Foster on his albums. Musically Castro looks back to an era when people like Donovan and Clive Palmer were in charge and folk ballads with eastern and medieval influences were the fetisj of the hippy elite. FERN KNIGHT probably also knit their own socks and we wouldn’t be surprised if they would make flower chains in their free time. This band of Margie Wienk from Philadelphia brings us psychedelic folk, but with a focus on female vocals. Incredible String Band, Forest, Pentangle and -closer in tme- Espers, aren’t that far away. Erik Heyns is a youngster that creates his own twisted popsongs for eight years now, under the moniker GÖÖR. Expect a personal kind of popmusic with influences ranging from elektronica to folk and jazz.
