GANG GANG DANCE [usa] TIM HECKER [can] ORPHAN FAIRYTALE [be]
New Yorkers GANG GANG DANCE hardly fit into any genre. They recycle and seamlossy assimilate the most diverse musical genres into one steamy and unconventional pop chaos, not unlike their comrades Animal Collective. Hypnotising, gruesome electronics go hand in hand with orchestrated rock and semi-Eastern psychedelica. Maybe just call it: inspired madness… TIM HECKER is a laptop composer from Montreal. He is renowned for his abstract ambient. Hecker’s music contains a high organic dose of structured noise, deep bass and evaporating melodies. During the past decade his gritted soundscapes were released on cutting-edge labels like Fat Cat, Mille Plateaux en Alien8. In 2038, the Electronica Walk of Fame in will feature him among other top acts like Fennesz, PanSonic and Ikeda. He also toured with Isis in the US. A second hand synth, a pink elephant, wome whistles and bells… Eva Van Deuren from Antwerp, also one of the souls of Maskesmachine, keeps it simple. ORPHAN FAIRYTALE makes a moving mix of melancholy, spontaneity, weirdness and childlike simplicity.
