ISLAJA [fin], KIILA [fin], VILLE LEINONEN [fin]
ISLAJA creates magic with the most simple means. Her dark, mystical music takes one (with the inapprehensible Finnish lyrics) deep into her personal world. KIILA is one of the flagships of the Finnish folk movement. The seven young Fins of this free folk collective put all kinds of acoustic and electronic instruments and Finnish chants together into balanced labour-intensive sings. Matthew Wuethrich from All About Jazz plonks: “A true folk music of the 21st century, one intimately connected to its locality and infinitely ready to explore localities beyond.” VILLE LEINONEN is a recluse in this line-up: no free folk but pure singer-songwriting for the sake of melancholy, trepidation, myths, faith, desire and your enchantment.
