Brian Turner is sometimes seen as a modern god at the KRAAK HQ. You can imagine we were proud to get an invitation from the maestro himself to take over his decks for a moment. This afternoon (evening in Belgium) the Kraak dudes are guests at WFMU, probably the best radio in the world.
Tuesday, June 30th, 3pm - 6pm: Belgian Underground retrospective with Kraak Records
With major European cities´ rents climbing, Belgium has quickly become an escape hatch for many artists, and hence an exploding hub of underground art, music, and culture. Tommy Denys and Steve Marreyt play in Silvester Anfang and run the Kraak record label out of Ghent which has been exporting WFMU faves like Ignatz and Paris´ El-G among others. Today they´re going to stop by around 4PM to Brian´s show and put the magnifying glass on a history of cool sounds past and present from a land that has given us such riches as Aksak Maboul, Bene Gesserit and the Honeymoon Killers. Cassette rarities, Belgian outsiders, and even some metal are promised
Live stream
On sunday Kraak also organizes a concert evening in Philadelphia with friend musicians from phily.
Ik kan helaas geen afscheid nemen
Ik kan helaas niet bij je zijn
Maar ik denk aan jou en voel de pijn
Pijn die een leven lang zal duren
Het had ook anders kunnen zijn...
